STUDENT LIFE

Student Activities

The focus for our activity program is directed towards activities that can be of life long value for our students. Leadership of self and others is encouraged in all programs.

As the schedule that follows indicates, we have built in a recreational time slot each day in addition to the mandatory physical education class. Each student is required to pursue at least one activity per term. These activities could include chess, bridge, scrabble, backgammon, drama, indoor soccer, or more individualized activities like golf, skiing, bowling, and swimming. In all cases the objectives for these activities are to develop social, physical and cultural skills that provide life long well being.

As well, school teams are formed for those who require competitive tests of their skills with others beyond the recreational tournaments at the school level. Canadian Independent College has developed a relationship with Outward Bound Canada to offer a wide variety of outdoor education courses. These courses are designed to include leadership development, relationships, problem solving, and self-management skills.

Canadian Independent College places high value on these complimentary skills and activities that each student is tracked and encouraged to participate in as many as is reasonably possible.
